Separating Waste

Welcome to Recycle Right! This page is a resource for the important steps in recycling. Here you will find information, tips, and suggestions to ensure your recycling efforts produce the maximum good and prevent contamination of recyclables.

Plastics

SEIRD offers recycling of bottle and jug shaped #1 and #2 empty plastic bottles and jug shaped containers.  Most recycling centers also accept #5 plastics such as cottage cheese, yogurt and sour cream containers.  It is important to sort these items accordingly to prevent contamination of recyclables.  To identify a recyclables number, locate the recycling symbol typically on the bottom of your container.  The number inside the recycling symbol indicates which type of plastic an item is.
